On one version, weekends are highlighted with a shade of grey. If your child is young and you feel this may add unnecessary confusion, start with the simple version of the calendar without weekends highlighted. It’s completely up to you and at what stage your child is at, and how you intend to use the calendar.

We encourage you to add the name of family members birthdays together as a way to show who’s birthday is when and what time of the year it falls.

Hang it up on a wall and discuss regularly. You may even wish to tick of each day as it passes (or in bulk when you have time).
